Darenka potato is an early-maturing table variety developed for cultivation on dacha plots and small farms. The plant is of medium height with upright growth, dark green leaves of medium size with very slight wavy edges. Tubers are oval-round with small eyes, smooth and yellow skin, and light-yellow flesh. The average weight of marketable tubers ranges from 70 to 161 grams, with starch content from 14.8 to 17%, ensuring medium softness and dense flesh that does not darken during boiling or cutting.
The variety is characterized by high market yield — from 126 to 188 centners per hectare — and good storability, reaching 92-95%. Darenka potato has excellent taste qualities, suitable for baking, making mashed potatoes, and processing into potato products. It is resistant to high temperatures and drought, making it a reliable choice for various climatic conditions. Additionally, the variety shows resistance to potato cancer pathogen and moderate resistance to golden potato cyst nematode.
Despite its many advantages, Darenka may be damaged by Colorado potato beetle at the end of the growing season and is susceptible to viral infections under high humidity. Nevertheless, due to its stable productivity and resilience, this variety is popular among gardeners and farmers seeking high-quality, flavorful potatoes with good yield.
