Evolution

The Evolution potato is a mid-early table variety developed by the Dutch breeding company Agrico. The vegetation period ranges from 50 to 80 days, allowing for the harvest of young potatoes as early as day 45-50, and a full harvest at the end of the season. The tubers have an oval shape, dark-red skin, and light-yellow flesh, with an average weight per tuber ranging from 70 to 140 grams. This variety stands out for its striking appearance and high flavor quality, as the tubers retain their color and do not break down during cooking, making them ideal for frying, soups, and mashed potatoes.

The Evolution variety is characterized by high yield, reaching up to 590 centners per hectare with proper care. It is resistant to mechanical damage, simplifying harvesting and transportation, and also exhibits resistance to viral diseases, nematodes, and late blight. Moderate resistance to scab requires careful monitoring, but its high storability allows tubers to be stored until spring without significant loss of quality.

For successful cultivation of the Evolution potato, sandy soils are recommended, along with regular and abundant watering, as this variety is moisture-dependent and requires consistent water supply. Due to its characteristics and versatility in culinary use, this variety is popular among both farmers and home gardeners.
