YAKHONTOVAYA

The Yakhontovaya plum is a high-quality dessert variety that has enjoyed well-deserved popularity among gardeners for over twenty years. It is a vigorous tree reaching 5–5.5 meters in height with a compact, spherical crown and light green, elongated-elliptical leaves. The fruits are large, round, yellow in color with a blush, weighing up to 30 grams, and feature delicate, juicy, and sweet-and-sour flesh. The variety is distinguished by its early fruiting and medium-late ripening period, allowing for a stable and abundant harvest.

Yakhontovaya is noted for its high resistance to fungal diseases and frost hardiness, making it suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions, including the Central region. The tree prefers well-drained soils and constant sunlight, which promotes healthy development and high yields, reaching up to 323 centners per hectare. The fruits store and transport well, expanding their usage and sales possibilities.

The variety was bred at the All-Russian Scientific Institute of Fruit Growing (VSTISP) by authors Kh.K. Enikeev and S.N. Satarova through crossing the varieties Smolinka and Evrazia 21. For successful pollination, it is recommended to use the varieties Skorospelka Krasnaya and Vengerka Moskovskaya. Thanks to its taste qualities, resistance, and high productivity, Yakhontovaya plum is an excellent choice for both home gardening and industrial orchards.
