Milena

The common plum variety 'Milena' is a medium-late universal variety developed at the North Caucasus Zonal Research Institute of Pomology and Viticulture. Trees of this variety are medium-sized with a spreading crown and large dark green leaves with a finely serrated edge. Fruiting begins in the fourth year after planting. The variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness of floral buds and drought resistance, making it a reliable choice for various climatic conditions. 'Milena' plum fruits are large, round in shape, weighing from 40 to 60 grams, with a dark amber skin and yellow-green juicy flesh. The taste of the fruits is sour-sweet, which is confirmed by a high tasting rating of 4.6 points. The fruits contain about 15.8% dry matter, 11% sugars, 1% acids, and 6.1 mg% of vitamin C, which ensures not only a pleasant taste but also beneficial properties. The fruits have good transportability and a universal purpose, suitable both for fresh consumption and for processing. The 'Milena' variety is characterized by high yield, reaching on average 133.2 centners per hectare, as well as resistance to diseases. These qualities combined with large fruit size and excellent taste characteristics make it attractive for gardeners and farmers.
