DOMINICA

The Dominica plum is a late-maturing variety of Chinese plum, distinguished by its high winter hardiness and universal usage. The tree is of medium height with a spherical crown, capable of withstanding temperatures down to -37.6 °C, making it suitable for cultivation in severe climatic conditions. The fruits are round in shape with a red color and a bluish bloom; the average weight ranges from 21.5 to 30 grams. The sugar content in the fruits reaches 6.5%, while acidity is 1.7%, providing an excellent taste and good flesh density.

The variety is characterized by high yield—up to 10 to 15 kg of fruits can be harvested from one tree. Dominica is resistant to common diseases such as moniliosis and clasterosporiosis, as well as damage from aphids and winter bud injury. Thanks to good transportability, the fruits retain their market appearance during transport and storage, making the variety attractive both for fresh consumption and for processing.

Dominica was bred by scientists of UrFANIC Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and included in the State Register for the Ural region. This plum variety combines high winter hardiness, disease resistance, and excellent taste qualities, making it a universal and reliable choice for gardeners seeking a quality harvest in moderate and cold climates.
