Renclod Early

Renclod Early plum — an early-maturing Ukrainian variety developed at the Donetsk branch of the Institute of Horticulture of UAAN through crossing Jefferson and Persikovaya varieties. The tree is medium-sized, reaching a height of about 4-5 meters, with a rounded, moderately dense crown. It begins fruiting on the 3rd to 5th year after planting. Self-sterile, it requires pollination with varieties such as Renclod Karbysheva, Donetska Vengerka, and Early Donetska Vengerka. Renclod Early has been included in the standard variety list for the steppe zone of Ukraine since 1988, distinguished by high yield, regular fruiting, and resistance to drought and winter cold. The fruits are large, weighing 40-50 grams, round in shape. The skin is dense, yellow with a white waxy bloom, sometimes with a reddish tint, which may turn light purple upon full ripening. The flesh is greenish-yellow or dark yellow, medium-firm, juicy, and very sweet with a slight acidity and honey-like flavor, ensuring a high taste rating of 4.5–4.9 points. The stone is medium-sized and round, typically semi-detached and freely positioned in the spacious cavity of the fruit. The variety prefers sunny, wind-protected locations and grows well on fertile, well-drained soils with moderate watering. Due to its dense skin, the fruits have high transportability and retain their flavor and size even when grown in northern regions. Renclod Early is primarily suitable for fresh consumption, making it popular among gardeners and lovers of tasty plums.
