Hawthorn «Tikhon» – a selection result obtained in the Moscow region through crossing the variety «Vitaminny VNIi» with wrinkled hawthorn «1–6–3». The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness and disease resistance, making it suitable for cultivation in many climatic zones. Bushes are vigorous, shoots are thick and brown, and thorns are located along the entire length of the shoot perpendicular to it.
The berries of «Tikhon» are round-oval in shape, reddish-orange in color, with a sweet-and-sour taste and a characteristic aroma. The pedicel is of medium thickness, and the number of seeds in the berries is average. Flowers are of medium size with a pinkish hue, leaves are dark green and glossy, consisting of 5–9 leaflets.
The variety «Tikhon» belongs to technical hawthorn varieties with an early maturity period and medium yield (about 39 c/ha). Due to its resistance to anthracnose and good winter hardiness, it is suitable for both commercial production and home cultivation. The taste of the berries makes them in demand in the food industry and folk medicine.
