Tolstyachok

The sweet pepper variety "Thicky" is a medium-maturing vegetable, ripening in 115-118 days from germination to technical maturity. Plants are semi-spreading, about 50-55 cm tall, with green, wrinkled leaves of medium size. Fruits are prism-shaped, slightly ribbed and glossy, reaching 10-12 cm in length and 6.5-8 cm in diameter, with a wall thickness of 5-10 mm. At technical maturity, they are green, and at biological maturity, they turn a rich red. Average fruit weight is 65-130 g, maximum up to 200 g. The taste is excellent, the flesh is juicy, making them versatile for fresh consumption and canning. The "Thicky" variety has high yield — 167 to 348 centners per hectare, equivalent to 4-4.5 kg per square meter. It is suitable for cultivation both in open ground and in plastic greenhouses. Plants require regular watering, fertilization, soil loosening, and pinching to ensure quality yield. It is recommended to remove side shoots and leaves before the first fork for better fruit development. Optimal temperature for growth is 26-28 °C during the day and 18-22 °C at night. Seed sowing for seedlings is conducted at the end of February, followed by transplanting in the cotyledon stage and hardening off before planting in the ground at the end of May. For planting, light, loose, and fertile soils are recommended. Fruits of the "Thicky" variety have high marketability and good transportability, making them attractive for commercial cultivation and sales. Due to their rich vitamin C content, they are beneficial for health and widely used in cooking.
