Pepper Red Star

Field Performance: Working with RED Star

Growing 'RED Star' by Selektsentr Lagutniki provides a predictable outcome for both open-field farmers and greenhouse operators. This hybrid is robust and adapts well to various cultivation environments, offering reliability throughout the growing season.

Crop Management and Yield Characteristics

With a maturation cycle of 80–100 days, this hybrid fits perfectly into most crop rotation schedules. It produces uniform, blocky-shaped fruits that transition from a vibrant green (technical maturity) to a deep, intense red (biological maturity).

• Weight: 160g to 250g, perfect for commercial retail standards.
• Wall thickness: 6–8mm, which provides excellent durability during storage and shipping.
• Dimensions: 10–12cm in length with a 6–7cm diameter.

Operational Insights

When grown in glass greenhouses, 'RED Star' responds well to intensive potassium fertigation, which is essential for developing those thick, crisp walls. The plants are manageable, and the fruit detachment process is clean, which significantly speeds up manual harvesting cycles. Because the fruits are highly uniform, growers spend less time on sorting and packing, making this an efficient choice for large-scale production. It is a stable performer that prioritizes fruit quality and shelf-life over complex maintenance requirements.
