Description ATALANTE
Sweet pepper variety Atalante is a medium- or early-maturing variety distinguished by high adaptability to various growing conditions, including open and protected ground. The plant is medium-height, semi-determinate, with a moderately branched structure and average leaf count. It quickly adapts to temperature changes and agronomic practices, possesses strong immunity to fungal and viral diseases, making it popular among gardeners and hobbyists. It is recommended to grow through seedlings, taking into account optimal temperature and planting scheme; dense planting is permitted to increase yield. The fruits of pepper Atalante have a conical shape, dense and fleshy, with wall thickness ranging from 5 to 8 mm. Fruit size reaches 13-15 cm in length and 8-9 cm in diameter, with individual fruit weight around 160-190 g. In technical maturity, fruits are dark green or salad green, changing to vibrant red upon biological ripeness. The flesh is crisp, juicy, and very tasty, making this variety suitable for fresh consumption, as well as for thermal processing, canning, and freezing. The skin is thin, so the harvest should be stored no longer than 10-14 days. For successful cultivation of pepper Atalante, it is important to maintain a proper temperature regime: the optimal temperature for seed germination and seedling growth is 18-25 °C, with abrupt temperature fluctuations negatively affecting plant development and potentially causing flower drop. Seeds germinate within 7-9 days at 20-25 °C, and for early seedlings, sowing is conducted in late January to early February in a greenhouse. Seedlings are transplanted into open ground after frost risk has passed, at soil temperature not lower than 14 °C. This approach ensures high yield with good flavor and market appearance.
