The pear variety Bere Precose Morettini is a summer variety, developed in Italy in 1956 by crossing the Coscia and William varieties. The tree is medium-sized with a pyramidal, sparse crown, showing moderate winter hardiness and drought resistance. It is an early-bearing variety, beginning to fruit actively even in the first years after planting, making it attractive to gardeners. Flowering occurs at medium timing, and its compatibility with quince allows its use as a rootstock.
The fruits of this variety are medium to large in size, weighing from 150 to 220 grams. They are pear-shaped with a thin, tough, smooth skin of light yellow color, sometimes with a faint blush on the sun-exposed side. The flesh is white, very juicy, tender, and oily, with a tangy-sweet flavor and pleasant aroma, ensuring high fruit quality. The variety is prized for its excellent organoleptic properties and is widely used both for fresh consumption and in commercial plantations.
The harvest period falls at the end of July to the beginning of August, classifying it as a summer variety. The fruits have good storability — when stored in a refrigerator, they retain freshness for 7–10 days and longer. Due to its characteristics, the Bere Precose Morettini pear is suitable for cultivation in various climatic zones, including steppe, forest-steppe, and southern Polissia, expanding its cultivation possibilities.
