SOVIETSKY

The "Sovietskaya" apricot variety is a medium-sized tree with a round-spreading canopy, which is recommended to be trained into an improved bowl shape. To maintain the tree's health and fruiting, annual pruning with shortening of fruiting shoots is required. The variety is characterized by high frost resistance, withstanding temperatures down to -21 degrees, and is also resistant to powdery mildew, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in various climatic conditions.

Fruiting of the "Sovietskaya" apricot begins as early as the 2nd-3rd year after planting, and full fruiting is achieved by the 5th year. Yield is high: about 30 kg of fruits and more can be harvested from one tree. Fruits ripen in the second half of summer, usually in the third decade of July or the second decade of August, and are harvested in 2-3 pickings. They have medium or large size, oval-round shape with yellow skin covered with velvety pubescence. Almost half of the fruit's surface is adorned with a bright striated blush ranging from carmine to burgundy.

The flesh of the apricot is tender-fibrous, semi-fused consistency, yellow in color, of medium density, with a weakly colored cavity. Taste is harmonious, acidic-sweet, with a pronounced aroma, which allows the fruits to be widely used fresh and not inferior in taste qualities to known varieties. Pit is of medium size, easily separates from the flesh, which facilitates consumption and processing of fruits. The variety is also characterized by high transportability and commercial qualities, making it attractive for commercial cultivation.
