The peach variety Laurol is a large-fruited late-maturing variety developed in North America, characterized by bright yellow fruits with a carmine blush on the sun-exposed side. The fruits have a regular, broad-round shape and weigh on average between 300 to 550 grams. The flesh of the Laurol peach is firm, juicy, aromatic, with an excellent balance of sweetness and acidity, easily separates from the pit. Due to its taste qualities, rated at 4.7 out of 5, this variety is popular both for fresh consumption and processing.
Laurol peach trees are medium-sized, reaching a height of 3-4 meters, with a spreading and sparse canopy. The variety is self-fertile, allowing it to fruit successfully without additional pollinators; however, for increased yield, it is recommended to plant other peach varieties nearby. Fruit-bearing begins on the 2nd to 5th year after planting, depending on growing conditions. The harvest period falls in mid-to-late September, making Laurol one of the best late-ripening varieties with high marketability and stable yield, reaching up to 40 kg per mature tree.
The variety is highly winter-hardy, tolerating temperatures down to -25°C, and also demonstrates good drought resistance, allowing it to be grown in various climatic conditions. Thanks to selective breeding, Laurol exhibits resistance to major peach diseases, reducing the need for intensive plant protection. These characteristics make the Laurol peach popular both in home gardens and commercial cultivation.
