Leek variety "Summer Breeze" is a late-maturing variety that matures within 120-180 days from sowing to harvest. For cultivation in temperate climate zones, it is recommended to use seedlings sown in March, followed by transplanting into the ground with 70-day seedlings. During the growth process, the plants need to be hilled up, which contributes to the formation of a powerful and whitened false stem, called the "neck".
The plant is characterized by high power and reaches heights up to 100 cm. Leaves of the leek are large, wide, spreading, green in color with a characteristic waxy coating. The cylindrical "neck" has a height from 15 to 25 cm and a diameter of about 4 cm. The mass of one plant varies from 200 to 340 grams. The taste of the leek is semi-sharp, which makes it universal for various cooking methods.
The "Summer Breeze" variety is excellent for processing, as well as for consumption fresh and dried. Special attention is paid to its use in freezing and cuisine during the winter and early spring periods. Commercial yield reaches up to 4.0 kg per square meter, which makes this variety attractive for growing both in home conditions and for commercial purposes.
