Early-maturing, high-yielding variety, excellent taste and superior bulb quality
Girey — Early white onion variety. Vegetation period 80-90 days. Leaves dark green with waxy coating, indicating high resistance to pathogens during cultivation. Bulbs of early onion variety Girey are flat, medium-sized, weighing 110-160 g. Outer scales are silvery-white, inner scales are white and succulent. Early onion variety Girey is used for early production and salad purposes. Suitable for short-term storage. Recommended for cultivation in all regions, either direct sowing into open ground or through seedlings. Seed sowing rate is 4-5 kg/ha. Plant density should be around 0.8-1.2 million plants/ha. For larger bulbs, use sparse planting at a rate of 0.6-0.8 million plants/ha. For drip irrigation, recommend 8 and 6-row planting (20-25 plants per linear meter at 27 cm row spacing). Proper planting is the foundation of crop success. Uniform plant spacing facilitates maturation, field mechanical operations, harvesting, and drying, enabling high-quality, uniform product. Since onion is a moisture-loving crop with a weak root system, regular watering is necessary to maintain air humidity at 75-80 % during germination and until bulb formation begins, and 70 % during bulb development. Onion consumes the most water during intensive bulb growth until the stem begins to bend. Yield of early onion variety Girey is 45-60 t/ha.
