Description

Excellent commercial and taste qualities, high yield and storability

Timur — a medium-early variety of red onion. Vegetative period 80-100 days. The commercial bulbs of the Timur variety are grown in one year. Plants with dark green leaves covered with a waxy coating. Bulbs of the Timur variety are round-oval in shape, large size, weighing 140-200 g. Dry scales have an attractive purple-red color. The color of juicy inner scales is purplish-pink, with a medium-pungent flavor. We recommend growing the medium-early red onion variety Timur in all regions, either directly sowing seeds into open ground, or through seedlings. Today, the best way to grow onion seedlings is using cassette trays, sowing seeds into the cassettes. Such seedlings tolerate transplanting well and root well. The average seeding rate for Timur onion is 4-5 kg/ha. The number of plants per hectare should be about 0.8-1.2 million. If large bulbs are required, a sparse planting with a rate of 0.6-0.8 million plants per hectare is used. Harvesting is best done when 80-90% of the leaves have fallen. On drip irrigation, we recommend using 8 and 6 row planting (row spacing 27 cm). Proper planting of the medium-early onion variety Timur is the basis for a high yield. Even plant spacing simplifies the maturation process, field mechanical operations, harvesting, and drying. This allows obtaining a high-quality, uniform product. Pay attention to watering, as onion is very demanding for moisture. The onion consumes the most water during the intensive growth phase of the bulb until the beginning of leaf fall. The yield of the medium-early red onion variety Timur — 50-70 t/ha. The average storage life of Timur bulbs is 6-7 months.
