High-yielding, easy-to-store golden variety with excellent market and taste qualities
Forum — Medium-maturing golden variety of bulb onion for long-term storage (6-8 months). Vegetative period 110-120 days. Leaves dark green, covered with a waxy coating, which enables plants to successfully resist diseases. Bulbs of medium-maturing onion Forum — round, slightly tapered upwards, brown-bronze in color, dense, weighing 100-170 g, with 1/3 located above soil surface. Dry scales of Forum onion variety are strong, tightly adhering to the bulb, and well protect it during storage. Inner scales — thick, juicy, and crisp. Medium-maturing onion variety Forum is noted for its sharp flavor, suitable for drying and versatile use. Marketable bulbs of onion Forum are grown in one year by direct sowing of seeds into the soil or from seedlings. Average seeding rate for golden onion Forum is 4-5 kg/ha. Plant population per hectare should be around 0.8-1.2 million. We recommend sowing with row spacing of 30-45 cm and plant spacing in rows of 2.5-4.0 cm or 8.0-12.0 cm (depending on the desired yield). For drip irrigation, we recommend using 8-row and 6-row planting. Since onion is a moisture-loving crop with a weak root system, regular watering is necessary to maintain air humidity at 75-80 % during germination and until the onset of bulb formation, and 70 % during bulb formation.
