Plant population per hectare should be around 0.8-1.2 million. We recommend sowing with row spacing of 30-45 cm and plant spacing in rows of 2.5-4.0 cm or 8.0-12.0 cm (depending on the desired yield). For drip irrigation, we recommend using 8-row and 6-row planting. Since onion is a moisture-loving crop with a weak root system, regular watering is necessary to maintain air humidity at 75-80 % during germination and until the onset of bulb formation, and 70 % during bulb formation. Onion consumes the most water during the intensive growth phase of the bulb until the onset of stem fall. Medium-maturing golden onion variety Forum — highly productive, yielding 45-70 t/ha.
