Onion Faraon

Growing «Pharaoh» White Onion: Field Experience

When planning for processing facilities, the choice of hybrid or variety is crucial for operational efficiency. «Pharaoh» from Nasko is a mid-late maturing onion variety that offers consistency in both yield and storage quality. Over the course of the season, it proves to be a reliable choice for commercial farming.

Field Management

This density allows the bulbs to reach an optimal marketable size of 180–200 grams. With a maturation period of 110–120 days, irrigation management is key; specifically, stopping water supply 2–3 weeks before harvest is essential to ensure the protective scales dry out properly, which directly impacts durability.

Processing and Storage

The standout feature of the «Pharaoh» variety is its distinct white color, both for the outer skin and the flesh. For processors, this means a clean, uniform product that doesn't darken during handling. The storage window of 5–6 months is quite solid for a white onion variety. Under proper temperature and ventilation conditions, post-harvest losses remain low.

• Uniformity: The round shape is ideal for high-speed mechanical sorting and cleaning lines.
• Market Value: Excellent for both retail distribution and industrial food processing.
• Resilience: Shows stable performance under standard agricultural practices when density requirements are met.

If your business model focuses on quality processing and winter supply, «Pharaoh» is a variety that delivers predictable results without excessive agronomic complications.
