Onion Meduza F1

Technical Profile of the "Medusa F1" Onion

The "Medusa F1" hybrid by the Japanese breeding company Takii Seeds is a specialized tool for producers focused on premium-quality commercial onions. The hybrid’s biology is based on a precise balance between its growing season (110–120 days) and the density of its protective outer skins, which defines its specific market niche.

Bulb Architecture and Adaptability

The hybrid's core advantage lies in the integration of its shape and color. The round bulb, weighing 140–150 grams, features a distinct dark-bronze skin color. In practical terms, this translates to high mechanical durability during harvest and resistance to micro-cracking, which is critical for post-harvest logistics. The internal structure is defined by snow-white flesh, classifying it as a salad-type onion, highly sought after in both the fresh market and the high-end processing sector.

Production Parameters

To realize the full yield potential, Takii Seeds breeders recommend maintaining a planting density of 1000–1100 thousand plants per hectare. This spacing allows the plant to develop a robust root system and sufficient foliage, ensuring optimal nutrient supply to the bulb. When standard agricultural practices are followed, "Medusa F1" demonstrates:

• Consistent commercial output due to uniform bulb size;
• Minimal losses during peeling thanks to the tight adhesion of the outer scales;
• Superior flavor profile with moderate pungency, the hallmark of quality salad onions.

Selecting this hybrid is ideal for farming operations where yield predictability and compliance with supermarket visual standards are the primary requirements.
