Onion Giant

High-Yielding Onion for Long-Term Storage

The 'Velikan' onion is a professional-grade variety designed for growers focusing on high-volume production with a long market window. With a storage capacity of up to 10 months, this variety allows producers to strategically manage supply and capitalize on market demand during the winter and spring seasons.

Production Efficiency

Achieving yields of over 100 tons per hectare, 'Velikan' is a top performer for intensive farming systems. Its practical advantages include:

• Mechanical harvesting suitability: the flat shape and 200–250g weight profile are ideal for standardized harvesting and sorting equipment.
• Transport durability: the dense, bright-brown skin protects the crisp white flesh during long-distance shipping, reducing spoilage rates.
• Marketability: being a salad-type onion with excellent flavor, it is highly sought after by retail chains and food service providers.

Agronomic Strategy

With a maturity cycle of 90–100 days, this variety fits perfectly into mid-season crop rotations. Its superior uniformity in bulb size significantly streamlines post-harvest processing, as sorting and calibration result in minimal waste. This level of consistency is critical for maintaining margins when supplying large-scale wholesale operations, ensuring that the vast majority of the crop meets premium commercial standards.
