Onion Efekt

Long-term storage and high-yield potential

The «Efekt» onion variety from the Polish breeding company PlantiCo (Golebiew) is a go-to choice for professional vegetable growers focused on winter and spring sales. As a mid-late variety with a growing period of 180–190 days, it is engineered specifically for maximum shelf life.

Agronomic performance and key characteristics

The primary advantage of «Efekt» is the balance between robust plant health and superior market quality. The globe-shaped bulbs are protected by a thick, dark-bronze skin, which is a critical feature for mechanized harvesting and long-distance logistics. Inside, the bulb features firm white flesh with excellent taste profiles, making it highly attractive for both fresh retail markets and industrial processing.

Practical application in agricultural operations

• Optimized for long-term storage: Thanks to its genetic profile, these bulbs maintain their commercial appeal and flavor for 9 to 10 months. This allows producers to supply the market during the off-season when premium quality produce commands the highest prices.
• Efficiency and mechanization: The uniform maturity of the bulbs facilitates efficient machine harvesting, significantly reducing crop loss. The dense outer skin acts as a natural barrier against fungal diseases during storage.
• Climatic resilience: Developed in Poland, this variety is well-adapted to temperate climates. It shows high resistance to temperature fluctuations and typical environmental stresses, ensuring stable yields even in challenging weather conditions.

Recommended for regions with a long day length, where the variety fully expresses its yield potential, producing large, uniform bulbs that retain their firmness even after extended storage periods.
