Wild cabbage STONE HEAD / KAMIENNA GLOVA

Storable Quality: Working with the «Stone Head» (Kamienna Głowa) Variety

For large-scale vegetable producers, the choice of a late-maturing cabbage variety is driven by one main factor: storage potential. The «Stone Head» variety from the Polish breeder PNOS Ozarow Mazowiecki is a staple in many warehouses precisely because of its durability.

Cultivation Experience

With a maturation period of 120–130 days, this variety requires a disciplined approach to irrigation. The shape is consistently round, which makes both harvesting and palletizing very efficient.

Storage and Processing

The standout feature of this variety is its ability to hold up in storage for 6–8 months. It is an ideal choice for growers targeting the winter and spring market. The heads maintain their density throughout the storage period, which significantly reduces waste. From a processing standpoint, the leaves are well-structured, making it excellent for shredding and fermentation. While it is a robust variety, it is important to monitor humidity levels in the warehouse to maintain its peak condition throughout the season.

• Growth cycle: 120-130 days.
• Weight: stable 2.0–3.0 kg per head.
• Storage capacity: up to 8 months in professional cooling facilities.
• Versatility: suitable for fresh market sales and industrial processing.
