Shallot Egoist 5 is a perennial variety featuring elegant green leaves and spherical lilac flower heads that bloom in the second year during May-June. This variety is characterized by medium maturity; the period from mass leaf regrowth to the first harvest is 18-24 days. The leaves are straight, hollow, narrow, up to 50 cm long, with a weak waxy coating and a semi-sharp taste without bitterness, making them ideal for use in fresh salads and cooking. Due to the high content of useful trace elements such as selenium, zinc, copper, phosphorus, and magnesium, Egoist 5 shallot is not only tasty but also a beneficial product. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness and frost resistance, allowing it to survive the winter well and provide fresh greens early in the spring. Yield per one harvest reaches 0.4 kg per square meter, while for the entire growing season it is 198 centners per hectare. These figures make Egoist 5 a profitable choice for cultivation both in personal holdings and for commercial purposes. Moreover, the lilac flower heads of Egoist 5 shallot not only attract bees, serving as an excellent nectar source, but also decorate flower beds and borders, delighting the eye with abundant and decorative flowering. The variety is recommended for use fresh and in cooking, confirming its versatility and practicality. The originator of the variety is LLC 'AGROFIRMA POISK'.
