The 'Talisman' white mustard seed variety is an early-maturing type grown in Ukraine and ideally suited for local farms. It is unpretentious regarding climatic conditions: it grows well in steppes, forest-steppes, and forested areas, maintaining stable yields.
Plant height ranges from 30 to 140 cm; stems are branched and covered with stiff hairs. The vegetative period lasts 80–85 days, and the fruit is a pod 2–4 cm long with a lanceolate beak. The seeds are spherical, 1.5–2.0 mm in diameter, and cream-white in color. Seed yield reaches 1.8–2.0 t/ha, while green mass yield is about 0.32 t/ha.
Talisman is characterized by high oil content (28.4%) and a low level of essential (allyl) oils, making it in demand in the food industry for producing mustard with a soft but spicy taste. The variety is resistant to wind damage and seed shattering, has medium resistance to diseases and pests, and is suitable for mechanized cultivation. Thanks to its characteristics, it increases yield and product quality when used as green manure, enriching the soil with beneficial substances.
