Mustard Talisman

Stability and Adaptability: The Talisman Mustard Variety

In the market of domestic oilseed crops, the Talisman variety has established itself as a reliable mid-early solution. Developed by the plant breeders at the Institute of Oilseed Crops of the NAAS, this variety was created in response to agricultural demands for a crop that combines ease of cultivation with predictable yields, particularly suitable for the steppe and forest-steppe zones of Ukraine.

Key Agronomic Metrics:

• Vegetation period: 75–85 days. This allows for efficient integration into crop rotation schedules, clearing fields for subsequent crops at optimal times.
• Plant architecture: Stem height ranges from 90–120 cm, ensuring efficient harvesting with standard combine harvesters.
• Quality profile: The oil content in the seeds is 28–35%, a competitive figure for industrial processing.

Talisman demonstrates high resistance to common pathogens and lodging, which mitigates risks when farming in regions with volatile climates. Backed by the breeding expertise of the Institute of Oilseed Crops of the NAAS, the seed material maintains its genetic integrity across generations, making it an attractive choice for farms practicing self-sufficiency in seed production. The variety is highly valued in commercial fields for its stability; even under moisture stress, it consistently forms well-developed seeds, which is essential for economic viability.
