Mustard Chaika

A reliable choice for green manure and honey production

The «Chayka» mustard variety, developed by the Scientific Institute of Selection, has established itself as a staple in the Ukrainian market. Agronomists value this variety for its balance between rapid initial growth and its effective phytosanitary impact on soil health.

Agronomic Profile and Productivity

The primary focus of this variety is the production of high-quality biomass. Under favorable conditions, the green mass yield reaches 20–30 tons per hectare, making it an efficient tool for green manuring. «Chayka» is highly effective at suppressing weeds and purifying the soil from nematodes, acting as a natural biological ameliorant.

• Versatility: The variety works exceptionally well both as a catch crop and as part of a honey-producing conveyor.
• Adaptability: Bred for Ukrainian soil and climatic conditions, it consistently responds well to the applied agro-background.
• Phytosanitary properties: Its strong root system improves soil structure, while dense plant stands effectively shade out competing weeds.

The reputation of the «Chayka» variety is built on consistency. It is a predictable choice for farms practicing eco-oriented agriculture and looking to improve topsoil quality without heavy reliance on mineral fertilizers. In crop rotation schemes, «Chayka» helps efficiently bridge the gap between harvest and fall sowing, preserving soil moisture and enriching the upper layers with essential organic matter.
