The «Popelyushka» salad mustard variety is an early, high-yielding type obtained through individual-mass selection of a hybrid population created by crossing the Osaka purple variety with a local selection. Plants reach a height of about 23 cm, their rosettes have a diameter of 20.5 × 14.5 cm and a slightly closed form.
The vegetation period is short: it takes only 22 days from the appearance of mass germination to market maturity. This allows for planning dense sowings and using mechanized cultivation technologies without loss of product quality. The total green yield is approximately 9.86 tons/ha, and seed yield is about 0.25 tons/ha.
Mustard «Popelyushka» is distinguished by a long marketable shelf life: up to 12–14 days after harvest. The tasting score reaches 4.8 points, indicating high taste quality and aromatic richness of the product. Thanks to its characteristics, this variety is suitable for both commercial production and home cultivation in open ground or indoors with suitable conditions.
