Mustard Leleka

Biological Potential of "Leleka" Mustard

Selection by "Terra-Yug Ukraine" focuses on creating a crop with high adaptability to the soil and climatic conditions of the steppe and forest-steppe zones. The "Leleka" variety is a classic white mustard that combines the functions of an intensive green manure (siderate) and a productive honey plant. Technological maturity is reached within 85–95 days, allowing for optimal integration into crop rotation as an intermediate link.

Agrotechnical Features

• Biomass and Soil Structure: The plant features a well-developed taproot system. It effectively loosens compacted soil layers, contributing to improved aeration and permeability. Incorporating the vegetative mass into the soil serves as an organic fertilizer, mineralizing quickly and enriching the humus layer.
• Phytosanitary Effect: Essential oils found in "Leleka" mustard tissues inhibit the development of soil pathogens, including root rot agents, and reduce wireworm activity, making it a crucial element of biological field protection.
• Honey Production: The flowering phase is characterized by intense nectar secretion, attracting pollinators. For beekeeping operations, this ensures a stable supporting honey flow, which is critical during periods of nectar shortage.

Using "Leleka" allows for the restoration of plot fertility after harvesting main cereal crops and effectively prepares the field for the subsequent crop, minimizing the need for synthetic fungicides and mechanical soil tillage.
