Mustard Master

Professional soil conditioning with mustard

«Maister» mustard, developed by the German breeding house P.H.Petersen Saatzucht Lundsgaard, serves as a high-performance cover crop designed for modern integrated farming. It is a strategic choice for farmers aiming to improve soil health while minimizing dependence on chemical inputs.

Key agricultural application scenarios:

• Soil sanitation: Due to its chemical profile, «Maister» acts as a natural suppressant against soil-borne pathogens and nematodes. This makes it an ideal predecessor for high-value root crops.
• Erosion prevention and structural improvement: The robust root system of this variety penetrates compact soil layers, improving aeration and water infiltration. This facilitates better field workability during subsequent tillage operations.
• Nutrient retention: The variety excels at scavenging residual nitrogen left after the harvest, preventing leaching into groundwater and transforming it into organic matter that benefits the following crop.

Practical application of P.H.Petersen’s genetics ensures rapid germination and biomass accumulation, even in narrow cultivation windows. By incorporating the fresh biomass back into the topsoil, producers foster a vibrant microbial environment, which directly correlates with improved yield stability. For farms prioritizing long-term soil fertility, this variety is a standard-setting tool for sustainable agricultural management.
