Cheget is a variety of cultivated millet (Panicum miliaceum L.) belonging to the group of grain crops with a medium maturation period. This variety was developed and approved for use in the North Caucasus region, confirmed by its registration and inclusion in the state register. The breeder of the variety is the Federal Scientific Center "Kabardino-Balkar Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences".
The Cheget variety is characterized by adaptation to the specific agro-climatic conditions of the growing region, ensuring its stable yield and resistance to adverse factors. During the breeding process, special attention was paid to increasing drought resistance, cold hardiness, as well as resistance to diseases and pests, making this variety a reliable choice for farmers working in complex climatic conditions.
Scientific work on the creation of the Cheget variety was carried out in the millet breeding laboratory under the guidance of experienced specialists, including Svetlana Nikolaevna Gorbachova. Within the scope of research, varieties with improved technological and consumer qualities were also developed, which allows millet Cheget to be used not only for feed purposes but also for the production of grains and other food products.
