Description TATARSKOE KRASNOE
Tatarskoe Krasnoe is a variety of cultivated millet (Panicum miliaceum L.) belonging to the group of cereal crops with a medium-early maturity period. This crop is a herbaceous perennial with a scaly rhizome and hard, upright stems ranging from 60 to 200 centimeters in height. The leaves are linear, measuring 20 to 40 centimeters in length and 0.3 to 1.5 centimeters in width, with a pointed tip. Flowering occurs in panicles measuring 15 to 55 centimeters in length, on the secondary branches of which are located egg-shaped, non-hairy spikelets measuring 3–5 millimeters in length. The plant is heat-loving and begins growth in late spring. It is capable of growing on various soil types; however, on moist and fertile soils, bushes grow rapidly but may lose their shape, whereas on dry and poor soils, growth slows down, but the bushes maintain compactness. Short-rhizome turf millet spreads relatively slowly. To achieve the best decorative and agronomic indicators, it is recommended to grow the crop on well-lit areas. The Tatarskoe Krasnoe variety was developed and registered by the Federal Research Center of the Kazan Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It is permitted for cultivation in various regions, including the Middle Volga region, as well as the Republics of Mordovia and Tatarstan, and Samara and Ulyanovsk Oblasts. Thanks to its characteristics and adaptability, this variety is promising for cultivation in the specified regions.
