Millet Albatros

Stable millet yields: the experience of growing Albatros

When choosing a millet variety, agronomists often look for a balance between yield and processability. Albatros millet, developed by the breeders at OVP Pokrovskoye in collaboration with specialized research institutes, has established itself over years of field trials as a reliable crop for working in unstable climatic conditions.

Phytosanitary control and resistance

The main advantage of this variety is its pronounced resistance to bacteriosis. In seasons with excessive moisture, when neighboring crops may suffer from disease outbreaks, Albatros demonstrates excellent preservation of its leaf apparatus. This saves the budget on fungicide treatments and reduces the overall cost per hectare.

Field characteristics and harvesting

The variety is classified as intensive, but it has specific features: lodging resistance is rated as moderate. In practice, this means that an agronomist should not exceed nitrogen fertilization rates to avoid excessive vegetative growth at the expense of stem strength. With optimal fertilization and seeding rates, Albatros performs exceptionally well with combine harvesters.

• Biological potential: high grain yield per hectare.
• Adaptability: the variety successfully tolerates moderate drought periods.
• Seed production: the originator (OVP Pokrovskoye) ensures consistent seed quality.

Working with this variety is comfortable: it is predictable in terms of ripening, which simplifies the logistics of the harvesting campaign. If your goal is to obtain marketable millet grain with good quality indicators at moderate protection costs, Albatros will be a valuable link in your crop rotation.
