Yuzhanka — a mid-season melon variety, primarily intended for cultivation in film greenhouses, although direct sowing in open ground is possible in southern regions. The plant is a vine with a main vine of medium length. Sowing for seedlings is recommended at the end of April, and transplanting seedlings — at the end of May or early June, when the plants reach an age of 30-35 days. A planting scheme of 70x150 cm is used, with plants tied to a trellis, removing lateral shoots up to a height of 50 cm and pinching subsequent ones above 1-3 leaves. Irrigation should be moderate, especially during the fruiting period, with 2-3 fruits forming on one plant.
Fruits of the Yuzhanka variety are round, smooth, with a delicate net, although some specimens may lack it. The fruit mass varies from 1.2 to 1.8 kg. The rind is of medium thickness, strong and flexible, with a cream color on the cross-section. The fruit background is orange-yellow with a pattern of narrow, interrupted orange stripes, which are partially hidden under the main background. The flesh is cream, thick, crunchy and granular, juicy and very sweet, with a characteristic melon aroma.
The ripening period ranges from 69 to 90 days. Due to its taste qualities and aroma, the Yuzhanka melon is an excellent choice for cultivation in greenhouse conditions, providing a stable yield of tasty and aromatic fruits. Proper care and adherence to agrotechnical recommendations allow obtaining high-quality fruits with good transportability and an attractive appearance.
