Zabavka

Zabavka — a medium-early watermelon variety with a vegetation period of 70 to 90 days, suitable for cultivation both in open fields and in plastic greenhouses. Plants are climbing, with vines about 1.5 meters long, forming round fruits weighing from 0.9 to 2.8 kg. Fruit color varies from light pink to yellow-orange, with a smooth surface and dense netting, which provides resistance to cracking. Flesh is light green or light cream-colored, tender, juicy, and crisp, with high sugar and dry matter content, giving it a sweet flavor and excellent dessert qualities. The variety is characterized by high resistance to temperature fluctuations and stress conditions, as well as good resistance to fungal diseases such as fusarium and powdery mildew. Thanks to these qualities, Zabavka tolerates adverse weather conditions well and maintains high flesh sugar content (8–9%) even under challenging growing conditions. Yield ranges from 3.6 to 4.2 kg per square meter, making it attractive for commercial cultivation. Fruits of the Zabavka variety have good transportability, allowing them to retain quality during transportation and storage. Flesh thickness up to 2.5–3 cm is rich in vitamins A, C, and beta-carotene, making the watermelon not only delicious but also nutritious. Seeds should be sown in May at a depth of 3–4 cm, with harvest occurring in July–August. This variety is ideal for fresh consumption, serving as a tasty and nutritious dessert.
