Description Lesya
The 'Lesya' melon variety is an early-maturing and quick-ripening type, suitable for both home and commercial cultivation. The vegetative period ranges from 60 to 85 days, allowing for harvest in July-August. The fruits have an oval or elongated-round shape, weighing from 2 to 3.3 kg, with a surface colored yellow-orange with a full or partial netting. The flesh is white, sometimes with a greenish hue near the skin, dense, juicy, and oily in texture, characterized by a rich sweet taste and honey aroma. The variety boasts high yield, reaching 4-5 kg per square meter, and resistance to diseases such as powdery mildew and downy mildew. Lesya melons tolerate drought well and have moderate transportability, enabling long-distance transport without quality loss. The shelf life of fruits is up to one month when stored in a harvested state, making the variety convenient for marketing and storage. Lesya melon usage is universal: fruits are consumed fresh and used for making fresh juices and fruit salads. The caloric content of the melon is low—about 33 kcal per 100 g of product, making it a healthy and tasty treat. For cultivation, seedlings are recommended, especially in areas with cooler climates, and the seed consumption rate is 0.2 g per square meter. A 20 g seed package allows sowing up to one tenth of a hectare and yields a significant harvest of sweet and aromatic fruits.
