Tagbo F1 watermelon is an early, stress-resistant hybrid of the pineapple type, developed by the Dutch breeding company Rijk Zwaan. The vegetation period from the emergence of mass seedlings to harvest is only 60-65 days, allowing for early market-ready production. The hybrid is suitable for cultivation both in open and protected ground, primarily by direct sowing, ensuring ease and efficiency of agronomy.
The plant exhibits vigorous growth, good health, and abundant foliage, along with a well-developed root system. It successfully withstands adverse growing conditions and various diseases, maintaining high productivity. The fruits have an oval shape with orange rind covered by a textured net, weighing on average 2-4 kg. The flesh is creamy-yellow, juicy, firm, with a distinct aroma and sweet taste, characterized by high sugar content (Brix level 13-14%) and a small seed cavity.
The harvested crop demonstrates good storability and transportability, enabling long-term preservation of its market appearance and flavor qualities. Tagbo F1 hybrid is recommended for fresh market cultivation, as well as for consumption and processing. The optimal planting density is 6-8 thousand plants per hectare, which promotes high yield and stable early production.
