WIFAK melon is a medium-early hybrid of the Amarillo (Canarian) type, intended for early and mid-season production. The vegetative period is 65–70 days, allowing cultivation through seedlings or direct sowing in open fields, greenhouses, and under temporary covers. It is especially suitable for southern and central regions of Ukraine. The recommended planting density is 6–10 thousand plants per hectare, which promotes optimal growth and high yield.
WIFAK melon fruits have an elongated shape with uniform dimensions: length is 22–25 cm, diameter — 12–14 cm, and single fruit weight reaches 3.0–3.5 kg. The bright lemon-orange rind with a distinct longitudinal netted pattern gives the fruits an attractive appearance. The flesh is very dense, creamy-white, juicy, and has high dry matter content (BRIX 14–16%), ensuring a sweet and rich flavor. The compact seed cavity is an additional advantage for consumers.
WIFAK hybrid exhibits good storability and a long shelf life — up to 3 months without loss of flavor or commercial quality. This makes it ideal for fresh market sales, including supermarket chains. Thanks to concentrated ripening and high transportability, the melon retains its properties from field to final consumer, ensuring stable demand and high commercial appeal.
