Melon Cinderella

Resilient Melon Variety for Stable Yields

The «Zolushka» (Cinderella) melon is a product of Russian selection, developed by the Kuban Experimental Station (branch of the Vavilov Institute of Plant Genetic Resources). Designed by breeder Genrikh Tekhanovich, this variety is a prime example of breeding for field stability and resistance to regional stressors.

Technical Advantages and Field Performance

The standout feature of this variety is its robust genetic resistance to common melon pathogens. Unlike many high-maintenance hybrids, «Zolushka» shows significant resilience against downy mildew and powdery mildew. This reduces the need for frequent fungicide applications, making it a sustainable choice for integrated pest management.

• Fruit characteristics: The weight ranges consistently between 1.0 and 1.5 kg, ensuring ease of packaging and marketability.
• Disease resistance: Exceptional tolerance to powdery mildew, which is often a limiting factor in melon cultivation.
• Adaptation: Highly suited for open field production where climate fluctuations can affect plant health.

Who should choose this variety?

«Zolushka» is best suited for growers who prioritize crop security and disease resistance over massive fruit size. While the variety is reliable, it requires careful irrigation management during the ripening phase to prevent fruit cracking. Its classic flavor profile and consistent size make it a favorite for local market supply chains. If you are looking for a low-input, high-resilience variety that can survive a challenging season, this selection remains a top-tier choice.
