Melon Forban

The Forban F1 watermelon is a medium-late hybrid of the Yellow Canary type, highly popular among melon growers due to its unique qualities and stable productivity. The plant forms 3-4 fruits per plant, each weighing 2-3 kg, with bright yellow rind and an oval shape slightly elongated at the edges. The flesh is light cream-colored, dense, crisp, and has a white hue, with high sugar content — 12% at harvest and up to 16% when properly stored. The Forban F1 hybrid is highly adaptable to climatic and soil conditions, successfully grows even on heavy soils, demonstrating high stress tolerance and resistance to various fungal diseases, including resistance to false powdery mildew. Due to its high flesh density and moderate juiciness, the fruits withstand long-distance transportation without losing their commercial and taste qualities, making this hybrid competitive in the market, especially during winter-spring periods. A distinctive feature of the Forban watermelon is its high storability and ability to improve taste during storage while retaining aroma and sweetness. The ripening period is about 80-85 days, allowing harvest in mid-late season. Developed by the French company Clause, this hybrid is valued for its stable formation of uniform fruits and prolonged freshness retention, making it an excellent choice for cultivation and fresh market sales even during winter.
