Alfalfa Vega

Stable Yields in Challenging Conditions

The “Vega” alfalfa variety has firmly established itself in the mid-early segment, focused on intensive forage production. Developed with a primary emphasis on phytosanitary stability, this variety addresses the common agricultural challenge of rapid stand decline caused by soil-borne pathogens and vascular diseases.

Agronomic Profile

In the field, plants typically reach a height of 60–90 cm, developing sturdy stems and dense foliage. “Vega” shows a rapid regrowth rate after each harvest, allowing for up to four full cuts per season under optimal management conditions. The root system is well-adapted to complex soil environments, ensuring superior crop survival during drought periods.

Immune Protection as a Core Asset

The key value of “Vega” lies in its comprehensive resistance to major threats affecting alfalfa fields:

• Bacterial Wilt: the variety suppresses the progression of bacterial infections, maintaining forage productivity into the third and fourth years.
• Fusarium and Ascochyta: high tolerance to fungal infections of the foliage and stems preserves the nutritional value of the hay.
• Nematodes: selective breeding has minimized root system damage from these pests, directly contributing to the long-term viability of the stand.

The reputation of this variety is built on predictability. It is the preferred choice for producers seeking a balance between high nutritional value and resilience against disease pressures that often limit the potential of less protected varieties.
