Alfalfa Poltavchanka

Field Management of «Poltavchanka» Alfalfa

For an agronomist managing perennial forage, «Poltavchanka» represents a predictable crop with excellent tillering capacity. With a plant height of 70–90 cm, the cultivar provides high density, which facilitates mower operation and ensures a uniform swath during hay or haylage harvesting. Under intensive farming conditions, this height is optimal, as it maintains a perfect balance between vegetative biomass and nutritional value.

Agrotechnical Resilience

The primary challenge in alfalfa production is maintaining a clean phytosanitary background. «Poltavchanka» stands out due to its comprehensive resistance to diseases that often diminish yields mid-season. The variety shows strong tolerance against downy mildew and phomopsis, while also maintaining robust immunity to phoma and sunflower rust. For field operators, this translates to reduced fungicide costs and fewer emergency field interventions following heavy rains.

• Machinery Compatibility: A height of 70–90 cm allows for efficient operation with standard mower settings, preventing biomass loss.
• Operational Costs: High field resilience reduces the risk of stand loss, minimizing the need for reseeding expenses.
• Regrowth Potential: The variety exhibits high regrowth vigor after cutting, which is crucial for long-term field exploitation.

This variety does not require delicate management conditions. Its genetic foundation is adapted to typical climatic risks, making feed base planning more reliable. By choosing this cultivar, you ensure consistent results with minimal interference in the plant's natural growth cycles.
