Lucerne variety Taiezhnaya is a perennial herbaceous plant from the legume family, bred by mass selection and hybridization methods. Plants reach a height of 60 to 110 cm, have semi-erect or semi-prostrate bush form with low bushiness — averaging about 20 stems per bush. Stems are of medium coarseness, slightly hairy, with anthocyanin coloring in the lower part. Leaves are lanceolate in shape, soft and hairy on the underside, stipules awn-pointed and green. Inflorescences consist of cylindrical or head-like racemes with variegated calyx coloring, varying from greenish-yellow to dark purple. Pods are sickle-shaped or spiral, seeds are kidney-shaped yellow in color, weighing 2.0-2.3 g per 1000 pieces.
