RELAX is a high-yielding synthetic variety of blue alfalfa (Medicago sativa L. subsp. sativa), created by crossing 12 parental clones. This variety is characterized by early flowering and an intermediate semi-upright bush type. Plants have medium height two weeks after the autumn equinox, reach medium or high height in spring, and vary from low to medium height after several cuts. Flowers are predominantly blue-violet, with a very low or absent frequency of plants with flowers of other shades. At full bloom, the stem is of medium length, which facilitates harvest.
The RELAX variety is distinguished by its high dry matter yield, which averages 90.5 c/ha in the Volga-Vyatka region, 3.9-4.5% higher than the average standard, with maximum figures reaching up to 152.6 c/ha. Protein content in the dry matter of green mass reaches 15.4%, and fiber content is 30.2%, ensuring a high protein harvest of about 10.4 c/ha. Additionally, the variety has a high content of digestible fiber, which improves feed quality and provides a sufficient amount of protein and energy for animals.
RELAX is well adapted to Russia's climatic conditions, is distinguished by high winter hardiness and early spring regrowth. It is resistant to verticillium wilt at a medium to high level and also shows good resistance to fusarium. The variety maintains stability and productivity in grass mixtures over several years, making it a reliable choice for feed producers seeking high-quality and highly efficient feed resources.
