An intensive variety with rapid regrowth and high resistance to major alfalfa diseases.
Description
Italian breeding for high-yield forage
The «IZOLA» alfalfa variety (Medicago sativa L.), developed by APSOVSEMENTI S.P.A., is designed for intensive forage production. Registered in Ukraine in 2023, this variety shows exceptional adaptability across various agro-climatic zones, including Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissya.
Field performance and stress resilience
As a dormancy class 6 variety, «IZOLA» is characterized by rapid regrowth after each cutting. Its high tillering capacity ensures a dense canopy, which effectively suppresses weeds and optimizes moisture retention in the soil.
Despite its Mediterranean origin, the variety exhibits excellent winter hardiness, making it suitable for regions with harsh temperature fluctuations. In the field, «IZOLA» maintains stability under drought stress, while its genetic resistance to Fusarium, Anthracnose, and Verticillium wilt significantly reduces crop loss, ensuring longevity of the stand even under high-humidity conditions.
Maximizing protein yield
The primary goal of this variety is the production of high-quality hay and haylage with a high protein content. Due to its rapid recovery cycle, «IZOLA» allows for a higher number of cuts per season compared to less intensive varieties, providing a reliable and profitable solution for modern livestock operations.
