Lucerne of the "Bereginya" variety is a high-yielding agricultural crop widely used in animal feed due to its high content of vitamins and proteins. This variety is characterized by a medium-early maturity period and is suitable for cultivation in the Forest-Steppe and Steppe zones. Lucerne is not only a valuable feed but also an effective green manure crop, helping to restore depleted soils, making it a profitable choice for farmers.
Plants of the "Bereginya" variety are tall, with a strong taproot system and sturdy, round stems over 100 cm in height. The leaves are trifoliate with oval leaflets, and the inflorescences have a short-cylindrical raceme with a background blue-violet corolla. A distinctive feature of this variety is partial self-pollination (20-30%), which ensures seed set even under unfavorable pollination conditions. The variety demonstrates vigorous spring and regrowth after cutting, uniform flowering, good fruiting, and high pollen fertility up to 90%.

According to tests conducted in Ukraine, it surpassed national standards for seed yield and forage productivity, providing up to 538 centners per hectare of green mass and up to 4.1 centners per hectare of seeds.
