Alfalfa ABAKAN 3

Siberian Hardiness for Field Conditions

The «Abakanskaya 3» alfalfa is a result of long-term breeding by the Research Institute of Agrarian Problems of Khakassia, designed to provide a stable forage resource in harsh continental climates. This variety has undergone extensive trials, earning a reputation as a workhorse for regions with severe winters and challenging farming conditions.

Agronomic Profile

The plant forms a stand with a height of 70–90 cm, ensuring an optimal balance between vegetative mass and ease of mechanized harvesting. Its well-developed root system allows the crop to effectively utilize moisture from deep soil layers, which is crucial during arid periods in Siberian and adjacent agricultural zones.

Why Producers Choose This Variety

• Cold Hardiness: The breeding process in Khakassia has endowed the variety with the ability to successfully survive winters, even under sharp temperature fluctuations and minimal snow cover.
• Early Maturity: «Abakanskaya 3» demonstrates rapid regrowth after each cutting, allowing for up to 2–3 full hay harvests per season, depending on the level of agronomic practices.
• Nutritional Value: As part of the blue hybrid group, it is characterized by high protein content and excellent palatability for livestock.

This variety is tailored for producers needing a reliable foundation for cultivated hayfields and pastures. It is stable, predictable in its development, and highly adaptable to the soil types typical of these agricultural regions.
