Description
The Shadblow 'Lebedushka' is one of the first edible varieties bred by breeders and registered in 1999. It is distinguished by high frost resistance: it withstands extreme winter temperatures, making it particularly popular among gardeners working in northern regions. Bushes of medium size reach a height of up to two meters, have a rounded crown, and weakly branched branches.
The berries of the variety are characterized by an elongated-cylindrical shape, about 1.5–2 cm long and 0.7–0.8 cm wide. The weight of one berry ranges from 1.2 to 1.6 grams. The taste of the berries is slightly sweet with a pleasant acidic aftertaste, making them suitable both for fresh consumption and for processing into desserts and preserves. The yield reaches approximately 2.5 kg from one shrub (about 40 centners per hectare), and fruiting begins at the age of three to four years.
'Lebedushka' prefers sunny areas but can also grow in partial shade. Pollinators include morena, blue spindle, malvina, and kamchadal. The variety has high resistance to diseases and retains useful properties even after prolonged storage or heat treatment, thanks to the choleretic, anti-inflammatory, and diuretic effects of the berries.
