Description
Shakhinya – a medium-maturing honeysuckle variety bred in the Moscow region. Medium-sized bushes with oval or conical crowns are resistant to diseases and frost, ensuring a high yield. Berries are large, dark blue with a blue bloom, juicy and aromatic, with a dessert-type sour-sweet taste.
Fruits ripen in mid-June; when fully blue, they are picked and left on the branch for another 1–2 weeks to achieve maximum sweetness. Bushes are planted about 1.5 m apart, preferring well-lit areas protected from strong winds. The variety belongs to universal, non-shedding types and requires cross-pollination.
Shakhinya is perfect for fresh consumption as well as making compotes, juices, jams, and other berry dishes. Due to its resistance to pests and unpretentiousness to soil, it can be grown at home or in garden plots, yielding a generous harvest of high-quality fruits.
