Gooseberry Aladdin

Legacy of the Timiryazev Academy

The 'Aladdin' gooseberry is a cultivar developed by the specialists at the Russian State Agrarian University – Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy (RSAU-MTAA). This variety embodies a long-standing breeding tradition, focusing on the synergy between flavor profiles and adaptability to temperate climates. It is recognized for its stable yield and ergonomic plant structure.

Agronomic Profile

The plant forms a compact bush reaching up to 1 meter in height, which significantly eases maintenance and harvesting. The ripening period is classified as medium, spanning 106 to 120 days. The berries, weighing approximately 4 grams, exhibit a vibrant green-to-yellow hue. Their flavor is well-balanced, featuring a classic sweet-and-sour profile that makes them highly versatile for both the fresh market and various processing applications.

Resilience and Cultivation

Aladdin demonstrates moderate resistance to powdery mildew and typical pests, requiring standard preventative care. Its cold hardiness of down to -28°C makes it suitable for cultivation in many regions with continental climates. The moderate thorniness of the shoots offers a balance between protection for the plant and accessibility during the harvest. This cultivar is an excellent choice for those seeking a reliable, professionally developed variety that combines academic precision with practical utility in a home garden or small orchard.
