Hemerocallis (Daylily) — a perennial herbaceous plant, which has gained popularity among gardeners throughout Ukraine due to its versatility and low maintenance requirements. This plant is characterized by high frost resistance, disease and pest resistance, and the ability to grow in the same spot for 7–8 years without replanting. Hemerocallis has a fleshy rhizome with fibrous roots, often forming stolons, which allows it to efficiently store water and withstand drought. The leaves are linear, straight or arching, and the flowers are large, predominantly funnel-shaped, and six-petaled.
There is an enormous variety of Hemerocallis cultivars, differing in height (from 20 to 110 cm), flower shape, and color. Among them are double-flowered, spider-shaped, bicolor (bi-color), miniature varieties, and plants with variegated leaves. The color palette ranges from solid tones — yellow, burgundy, cream — to complex multi-colored hybrids with contrasting "eyes" in the center or edges of petals. Due to the diversity of flowering periods — early, mid-season, and late — the decorative effect in the garden can be extended up to two months.
Hemerocallis is ideal for various types of garden plantings, decorating both small flowerbeds and large open spaces. Although its flowers bloom only for one day, the abundant and prolonged flowering creates a striking decorative effect. The plant easily combines with other garden crops and requires minimal care, making it an excellent choice for both experienced and novice gardeners.
