Daylily Narčena

A Legacy of the Kryvyi Rih Botanical Garden

The 'Narechena' daylily stands as a testament to the breeding expertise of the Kryvyi Rih Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Developed specifically to thrive in the challenging climate of the steppe zone, this variety was engineered to bridge the gap between delicate aesthetic beauty and rugged durability. Today, it is recognized as a staple for gardeners seeking reliability in harsh winter conditions.

Technical Specifications

The variety is defined by its resilience. With a cold hardiness rating between -30 and -40 degrees Celsius, it remains one of the most reliable perennials for regions prone to freezing winters. Key attributes include:

• Flowering cycle: A robust 90-day period, ensuring a prolonged visual impact.
• Plant dimensions: Reaches a height of 70 cm with a clean, 7 cm white bloom.
• Sunlight requirements: Demands full sun exposure to maintain its pure white color and bloom density.

Market Positioning and Cultivation

In the landscape design market, 'Narechena' is valued for its low-maintenance profile. Unlike imported hybrids that often struggle with temperature fluctuations, this variety is fully adapted to local soil and environmental conditions. It is the perfect choice for mid-border plantings, walkway edging, or creating high-contrast patches within larger garden designs.

While it does not offer reblooming cycles, the sheer duration of its primary bloom makes it a consistent performer throughout the summer. To ensure the best results, planting in well-lit, sunny areas is essential; shade will inevitably lead to a reduction in both the intensity of the white pigment and the volume of flower production. This daylily represents a smart investment for those looking for professional-grade performance without the need for constant, labor-intensive maintenance.
